![]() ![]() If a thread is still relevant, especially on a car forum like this, there's no reason it can't go on for 20, 30, 40+ years - as long as people are still driving these Rav4s and need to fix them.Īnyhow, I want to thank this thread for all the ideas and show how I decided to resolve this issue after my sun visor arm broke. I'm sure why there's this warning about this being an older thread and starting a new thread. Thats the fourth photo.Īs I show in the fifth photo, I had to modify the 'hidey plate' to remove the tabs which would expand the now missing clips. I inserted the attachment into the roof, making sure I pushed enough so the toggles flipped open and tightened the bolts. How it fits together is shown in the second photo.Īs you can see in the third photo, the 'speednut' fits pretty good as is. I cut the bolts to 1" (there is a bit more than 1" headroom in the sunvisor) and trimmed the toggles to about 3/8" each side using a side cutter. So I went to the hardware store and spent $3 for some 'speed nut clips' and some small toggle bolts. I can see the advantage of selling a $100 visor assembly instead of a $0.05 clip, but that is not exactly a good design.Īnd it'll be a cold day before I fork over that kind of money to reward them for their dumb design. I went to the dealer today and discovered Toyota doesn't sell the clips! You have to buy the entire sun visor assembly for a paltry $100, give or take. I thought - no problem: I'll pick one up at the dealer on Tuesday. In that process I broke one of the little clips which hold it on (you can see it in the first photo). ![]() This involved removal of the headliner, which meany I had to remove the sun visors. Part of the project was to strip completely the interior of the car, remove droppings, etc., etc. ![]() Over the weekend, I decided to 'de-mousify' my wife's Rav4, which had been infested by several mice. ![]()
